Binbrook Lake

We went for a brief excursion to Binbrook Lake (or Lake Niapenco) to try find a geocache. Unfortunately, a large number of mosquitoes did their very best to prevent us finding it, forcing us to take refuge in a look out tower that extended above the mosquito maximum altitude. We consoled ourselves by visiting the rail trail that Caleb and I rode a few days previously, which it turns out has many geocaches strung along its length.

Never had to worry about this problem before!
It was quite a nice trail, apart from the mosquitoes and other bugs. We didn’t see any rabid raccoons.
Binbrook Lake, near the geocache we couldn’t find.
A view of the lake. It’s quite a long lake, but not very wide. Would be good to explore with a canoe if it were not so hot and buggy.
Plenty of plants along the trail, although we were worried about poison ivy. I’m not even sure it grows here precisely, but simply concerned because we would probably not recognise it even if we were about to stumble into it.
One of the geocaches we found along the rail trail.

  1. A beautiful walk trail …. pity about the mozzies though!! What happens if you touch poison ivy? What a clever geocache that one is!!
