There are a number of other photos that I wanted to show on here, but they weren’t from either Bedugul or the GitGit waterfalls.

On our way to Bedugul we asked our driver to stop so that we could take a photo of the scenery and also go to toilet. Since it was still early in the morning it wasn’t yet too hazy, so we had a good view across to Mt. Agung, the highest mountain in Bali, and Mt. Batur, which I climbed during my last visit. When we returned this way in the afternoon we couldn’t see any mountains, just haze.

Returning from the waterfalls, we stopped for lunch at a place that offered an Indonesian buffet. The food was not too great, but the views were pretty amazing.

As we travelled back to Denpasar, our driver suggested that we stop in at another temple complex (the Taman Ayun temple in Mengwi). Since it wasn’t far off our route, we agreed. Although we could not enter the inner temple, it turned out that we were actually entering an outer part of the temple, and we were asked to put on a sarong to cover our knees after entering.

At the temple I also carried out my first transaction entirely in Indonesian. Admittedly, it wasn’t a complicated or long transaction, but it still felt like an achievement. I think it went something like this:

“Halo!”
“Halo, dua orang.”
“Enam puluh ribu.”
“Terima kasih.”
“Sama-sama.”

As a bonus, passing through Kerobokan on the way back to the hotel, we drove around the famous Kerobokan prison! At least we can check off that achievement!
