On Friday we visited Waterbom and spent most of the day exploring the park, checking out the rides, and, in Samuel’s case, sleeping!
We used a Grab car to get there and back. Much like Uber, the car is ordered and payment made via the app. Each way cost us approximately IDR40,000 (about $4 AUD). Made getting there very easy! The Grab drivers usually don’t speak much English, but that’s not a problem when just getting point to point. It also gives me practice with Indonesian!
When booking Waterbom in advance, I added on gazebo hire. These cost about the same as admission for one person to the park, but for a family it simplifies storing your items, having a place for Samuel to sleep, and it also allowed me to reserve a quiet shady location.
The park has been expanded since we were last there. Although they have decommissioned two rides (the Boomerang and the Super Bowl (as I think it was called), they have installed a new Boomerang and three additional slides in a new area of the park. We also noticed that the area we have typically settled in (Tropical Grove) has now been closed for redevelopment as well.
We had a fantastic time here. Berwyn and I hit every ride in the park at least once, and Annelise and Samuel spent a lot of time in a small pool adjacent to the lazy river. Samuel’s biggest problem was that he loved the water too much, and wasn’t content to simply dip his feet or splash in the shallows.
