Food

It wouldn’t be a modern holiday if we didn’t take photos of all the food we ate.

This is not an exhaustive cataloguing of our culinary adventures, but a few highlights that are worth sharing. We partook of a variety of cuisines while in Bali, taking advantage of the lower prices to sample foods that we otherwise would not have the opportunity to try.

Our trip included some old favourites (Warung Kampung, Warung Tujuh, the Lokal 80361, Warung Happy) and plenty of new places as well.

Berwyn tried one jus alpukut but wasn’t a big fan (it’s one of my favourite drinks).
Ikan goreng lalapan at Warung Kampung. It didn’t look the best but was a delicious, oily, spicy meal when eaten with liberal amounts of sambal.
Bacon the most of the breakfast buffet.
Annelise says this was the best Pad Thai she’s ever had. My spicy pork belly dish is in the background. This was at Lemongrass Thai in Legian (Jl. Melasti).
I wasn’t quite sure what a “turtle bun” was, so I ordered it to find out. This was at Bali Safari.
Berwyn ordered the BBQ Prawn Skewer.
Samuel wanted to eat just like the rest of us.
Our first night in Ubud we ordered a monkey tower dessert. Toast, icrecream, and bananas with a brown sugar syrup!
We visited Pison in Ubud twice. This was Rujak Chicken, and it was delicious!
A vegetarian meal for a change – Nasi Bakar Kampoeng at Warung Semesta. All most delicious.
Tropical View restaurant (at our hotel in Ubud) advertised their BBQ ribs heavily. This was nasi goreng with 500g ribs. Mmm.
Nasi Goreng Buntut (fried rice with oxtail) on our second visit to Pison.
My last meal in Ubud – Bebek Betutu Tropical Style. It’s a Balinese style half duck with lawar, rice, and a few sambal variants.
