Crawford Lake – Longhouses

One other feature of the Crawford Lake conservation area was a recreation of a number of First Nations Longhouses that were previously situated there. They were used to show how they are imagined to have looked, and also for some other presentations and displays.

From the outside.
Inside. Apparently they usually had a few fires burning, so they would have been a lot smokier than this.
Many furs and skins were on display. This is a bison (left) and a mooses, neither of which is found in Southern Ontario any more.
